Assassin's Creed Odyssey | Things to Consider Before You Buy

before you purchase sure we'll give you some straight of game play and our first
impressions of the latest games releasing as usual it's me Jake Delfino and
today we're talking about assassin's creed Odyssey is a massive game and it's
off the tail of assassin's creed origins which for contacts as much as it was
very different I liked it and I grew enjoy it even more after I finished it long
story short though this is more AC origins but it is hugely overwhelming and
feels even more like this like full bodied RPG to really sink your teeth into
for hours and hours and hours it doesn't fix many of the issues I had developed
with the previous game but it gives you a gorgeous New World to explore things
to grind towards and people to kill I'll get to that let's start off with the
story a very different one here at the current time period animus stuff starts
off extremely light and it's really only there for you if you really want to
pursue it more this is the latest that has been an assassin's creed game
definitely and I don't know people go both ways on this I like the current day
stuff I want more of that and I'm getting less and less of it but I feel like
I'm a dying breed of that type of fan this game is all about the past deep into
B. C. territory in ancient Greece you choose between Cassandra and Alexis
they're mostly interchangeable characters except for a few little tweaks here
and there but honestly I would with Cassandra because I couldn't stand Alexius
is dreadful sounding voice acting I heard during a twitch stream and I had been
like now her voice is a little corny too but not as bad simply a personal
preference thing I have no idea irrespective of who you select you are a Spartan
descendant of low fat it is who lives an outcast mercenary just trying to make a
Buck until of course you're thrust into a way bigger journeys in a big world it
is a pretty gradual start even once you get past the roughly three hour opening
before the credits.

And it takes a while even after that
before you truly get your core mission partly because the overall game is
actually lengthy but also because you're out in a large world with tons of
things to do and get distracted by now origins previously tried to replicate the
compelling interesting and unique part pursuit of the witcher three and honestly
goes all in on that coming even closer to it your interest will be peacefulness
for quite a long time it seems because there are just so many interesting
diversions out there are still of course like you know cookie cutter things but
there are a lot more interesting aspect stories and character quest that seem
like they're worthy of checking out some even high into the overall narrative to
which I appreciate but even when they don't you just reach meet interesting
people in weird scenarios and the game seems to do a good job of thinking
outside the box for some of the stuff now it does feel a bit more like a
traditional western RPG at times like witcher Skyrim when you're roaming through
the woods on horseback you some tears run with a morning fog is rolling in and
you'll find a secret cave with treasure yeah the vibe and atmosphere hits just
right and it feels like a completely different game not an assassin's creed game
I like those moments a lot just because they surprised me I did not expect that
going into this granted most of the time you're still hiding in bushes and
stabbing dudes and taking out outposts and climbing things so I really hope
you're not sick of that because there is a great deal of this and a great deal
of what to grind for in this if you don't origins colored loot system was big
this is next level stuff you are constantly bombarded with new and unique items
with different looks and stats and you will even always hang on to people older
ones by upgrading them integrating them at a blacksmith if you like I'm never
getting used to want to quit and place because I always get a new one every
twenty minutes but I still really like being able to invest money resources into
older weapons to make them better and keep them for long it's actually
surprisingly addictive gameplay system for me now first hunting does feel like
it's a lower priority than in previous games but it's just integrated slightly
differently there's still plenty of animals to kill in
places.

Rating treasures to discover all for your benefit
and the overall game does a good job of keeping you merely like I said
consistently grinding the game will feel a little bit to grind it times but it's
different for everyone some individuals here that and I think that's great other
folks not so much I'll leave it at that it can get better as it goes though
overall and you're looking at like thirty plus hours easily in this world
speaking of the world but like I said it's massive something about it this time
with added verticality makes if you'll absolutely insane another key strength
know of these new assassin's creed games is the environmental variety a here you
get tropical islands hotter climates than grasslands and chilly fall mountains
and a few other things in between what I also enjoy though is that you get
cultural differences exploring is even more fun because you come across
completely different types of people buildings and systems it's just impressive
to say the least you see a lot because not only do you wonder on horseback but
you're also sailing the open seas the overall game is absolutely that big naval
overcome is somewhat similar to AC Rogan Black Flag which as a Perish Hard fan
those video games I really appreciated I immediately felt like I used to be
coming home after spending hundreds of hours in those games it control similarly
but it is simple find a bit you also don't have complete freedom to stop and
jump out wherever all of the time the whole fishing boat thing is a good
mechanic where I guess for everything else comes with some compromises that had
to be made but of course you're really just killing you and I have any brought
that up yet the combat is still like sixty seventy percent the same here and I'm
still not crazy about the loose feel and further our camera angle it's still
just not quite my thing weapon types all feel in play differently but I'm still
not a hundred percent on it I appreciate when it's challenging though because it
does get there and I do like that what I don't like is the new emphasis on power
this is a personal preference of course but I'm not really a fan of the slamming
of the to result in buttons to execute a power move that has a surprisingly
lengthy window I say that but on the flip side the actual button press doesn't
really feel that good there's just like a slight milliseconds delay
that.

it feels a tad bit off and you also have to get used to it
that's fine but like it didn't feel just like something I need to get good at it
just feels as though something where I personally just didn't jive with a design
choice it just feels kind of lower quality and I wasn't into it's a totally
different in how working origins but I just prefer the way it was feeling in
origins that's the downside really what I really do like or the added movements
in capabilities there continues to be such as a family style skill tree to tub
skill points into but they unlock complete memorable skills that are kind
awesome some make the overall game feel way more a tape styling kind I'm
realistic but I don't really care you get over it there are a move to send like
a charged arrow shot or a three hour shot an awesomely sadistic Spartan kick
which dash and almost kind of like throw teleport things much like shadow of war
and a bunch more just as much as I'm still not really a hundred percent in to
the combat these abilities really do make just like a hell of a difference it
just feels like there's just more to all from it that's really the main theme of
us more of everything the game feels unfocused at first and it frustrated me
personally but trust me it picks up and remains fairly regularly fun especially
once you realize the decisions you make in conversation and dialogue actually
change things in the world in store it's not always huge but the game actually
makes good on some decisions in ways I wasn't expecting so many video games
turnaround choice and outcomes but not all of them actually make good on it
isn't a game changer anything maybe my objectives were low but I enjoyed seeing
some little changes occasionally props to them for your I'm in graphics wise it
looks great individuals detailed the open up seas look gorgeous and the sun
models are almost as good as the witcher's which are my personal favorites I got
my hands on the Xbox one X. version and considering roots got a nice treatment
with that version I really felt I appear to be pretty rough in the body rate
department sometimes it's never really consistent and it was unhappy to see not
game breaking deal breaker territory but still I hope it gets cleared up in such
as a patch or something fundamentally if you liked origins you'll find more to
like here if you've never played one of the games or if you haven't performed
one of.

A long time this is a fairly great fairly standalone
adventure to jump into it's just like a huge old action experience RPG it has
its issues but it makes up for that in its appeal and it's massive size it's
actually just an impressive feat worthy of witnessing but I'm also just
fascinated by game design that's just me if you're not into assassin's creed
video games I believe you'll still not be into assassin's creed games but I love
them I've my personal problems with them but I plan mall and I think out of he's
a good one but that is of course able for you by you know how goes down right
now I offer you some pros and cons and some personal opinion and now I
definitely want to hear yours maybe you bought the special model a gives you
earlier access to the game perhaps a waiting for Friday for the full release or
maybe you are not even playing in any way whoever you .
